Put Gravity to Work
A raised barrel can provide gentle gravity-fed flow to nearby watering accessories. One practical upgrade is a four-outlet manifold supplying four short soaker hoses.

Gravity flow is not the same as household water pressure. A simple pump may be added when water must travel farther or uphill.
Collected roof runoff is intended for appropriate outdoor uses. Filtration
removes debris but does not sterilize water or certify it as safe to drink.
Suitability also depends on the roof material, storage conditions,
filtration and intended use.
A Simple Connection to the System You Already Have
We Use Your Existing Gutters and Downspouts
Most qualifying Backyard Water Reserve installations use one accessible, serviceable existing downspout. A compact diverter carries rainwater to the barrel while the original downspout remains in place.
- Keep your existing downspouts. A replacement downspout is not required when the existing one is serviceable and properly located.
- Minimal space required. Allow approximately 36 inches from the wall and 30 inches of width, with the barrel located within about 6 inches of the desired downspout connection.
- Minimal connection maintenance. The short connection is accessible and easy to inspect.
- Designed to stop filling at the diverter level. When the barrel reaches that level, excess stormwater continues through the original downspout.
We make little to no modification to a qualifying existing downspout.
Downspout replacement is an optional upgrade when the original
downspout is damaged, undersized or poorly located.

A full 50-gallon barrel can weigh more than 400 pounds. We prepare, level and test the entire assembly under weight so the system begins on solid ground and works the way it should.

Measure and Level the Area
We confirm the location and prepare a level 30-by-30-inch area near the selected downspout. The basic installation includes normal shallow excavation in soil, grass or a reasonably level landscape area.

Build the Gravel Foundation
We add and level the gravel base to create firm, even support before installing the equipment pad. Concrete demolition, major grading and retaining work are quoted separately.

Add the Pad and Raised Stand
A durable 30-by-30-inch plastic pad sits over the prepared base. A molded stand raises the barrel faucet for easier access and less bending.

Test It Under Real Weight
We test-fill the barrel so the pad and foundation settle under weight. Finally, we pour water into the gutter to confirm that water reaches the barrel and the diverter works as intended.
The base is a major part of the professional installation.
We are not simply placing a barrel beside the house. We are building and
testing a stable starting point for a water-management system that can be
expanded later.

Add a matching second barrel at the same location and on the same installation date. This doubles the starting storage without requiring another installation trip.

WATER DELIVERY
Four-Zone Garden Kit
Add a four-outlet manifold and four 15-foot soaker hoses for tidy watering zones close to the barrel. Each zone can be controlled separately.

Hidden Hose Reels
Add an enclosed or decorative hose reel near the barrel to keep longer garden hoses organized and out of the walking path.

Washable Debris Filter
Add a simple screen-style filter after the barrel outlet to catch remaining visible debris before water reaches a hose or watering accessory.

A 3-by-4 Hi-Flow downspout has approximately twice the outlet area of a legacy 2-by-3 downspout and can improve the drainage capacity at that selected location.
